Discussion 1: Ethical Issues Related to Student Disclosure
Last week you imagined yourself as an instructor of an introduction to psychology class where you responded to a personal introduction from Carlos James and explored ethical concerns that might exist in terms of his self-disclosure.

The implications for students, instructors, and the educational institution are immediate factors to consider when students disclose highly personal information. What other factors should you consider when determining the best response to an ethical situation created by student disclosure? This week you analyze several of your colleagues’ responses to further identify the ethical issues that should be addressed.

For this Discussion, review and study this week’s Learning Resources as well as the introduction posted by Carlos James in last week’s Assignment. Also review the document posted by your Instructor that contains several responses to last week’s Assignment (with student’s names removed). Consider the key ethical issues that should be addressed in the instructor’s response.

Then select what you consider to be the best of the responses provided. Finally, consider how that response might best address the key ethical issues involved in Carlos’s disclosure.
With these thoughts in mind:
Post by Day 3 an explanation of why student self-disclosure can pose an ethical issue in the classroom. Then explain two key ethical issues in Carlos’s post that you think should be addressed in the instructor’s response.

Finally, describe the response you selected, and explain why it best addresses the key ethical issues you identified.
