Organize the body of the assignment by using each of the bulleted, underlined headings below, in the same order.  Write brief sentences to answer the questions in order, under each heading.

Part A: Observation

·         Environment: (2 marks)

Refer to the video “Complaints…” when Doris as a client in the Complex Care facility:

1)    Describe two environmental factors in the facility that support people with dementia?  Provide rationale for your choices. (Reference your rationale with required resources and credible sources).

2)    Environmental factors can influence people with dementia to perceive and react. Describe two specific environmental factors that can challenge or confuse people with dementia. (Reference your rationale with required resources and/or credible sources).

·         Stages of dementia and related signs and symptoms (4 Marks)

3)    In the first video, what stage of dementia was Doris living in:

a) at the beginning of the video, when she lived at home and

b) near the end of the video, when she was living in complex care. 

List 2 specific symptoms for each stage identified in a and b. (Reference your rationale with required resources and/or credible sources).

4)    What stage of dementia did Gladys have? List 2 specific symptoms for this stage. (Reference your rationale with required resources and/or credible sources).

Part B: Reflection and Analysis of Communication with Doris and Gladys

5)    Based on the readings, and these two videos, outline four ways care givers prepare themselves (prime) prior to interacting with a client with dementia?  (2 marks)
